Timing relationship of ux design

In the daily interactive design work, the ux designer in the clear needs of the target on user experience, the user scene, build the information structure, the next step is to conceive how to make this information and the user to produce effective interaction between, and this requires designers to think In the middle of the dimension of the step by step to promote the middle, it will produce a lot of “timing” of the discussion. Although the word “timing” has its own specific meaning, but “time” and “machine” the word has to split and understand, pull out the delicate differences between the two:
– when the four seasons, also represents the law, the cycle of time, and has a strong universal;
Opportunity, refers to the favorable conditions in a particular condition, do not have universal, but often can produce good results;
Example: a graduate job, there are so-called “gold nine silver ten” argument, every year in September, October is the peak of job hunting, so a variety of products for job search, advertising also ushered in the outbreak period, which Is a cycle of universal with the time period; and as a graduate, perhaps through the introduction of a mentor or friend, just know a company vacancies, so actively prepared until the admission, which is to seize a opportunity.

what should we know for better ux design

First, understand the problem, develop a plan
We all know that the wrong solution can be corrected. Even if it takes one day, one week, or even more, nothing more than efficiency. However, if even the problem, or pain point does not exist, then you do things do not have any meaning. Therefore, to develop a habit of getting to know the problem, to avoid the problem is not clear, the target is not clear to do the case of design, which is for interactive designers, it is very important.
As a starting point for the development of an interactive design work program, we can start by looking at the following questions.
1, why do this function? (Business purpose)
2, what kind of product expectations? (business goal)
3, who will use this feature? (Target users)
4, why do they use this feature? (User needs, experience goals)
5, how to make them all use this feature? (Behavioral design)
On the basis of understanding these issues, and gradually launched a series of actions, the orderly implementation of the interactive design of the preliminary work plan. Mainly include: 1, analysis of business needs -> 2, analysis of user needs -> 3, decomposition of key factors -> 4, inductive design requirements, clear  ux design strategy.

Second, summarize the needs, decomposition goals
When a product in the project when the time, usually there will be a clear product targets. For example, “in three years to play the leading Chinese XX platform”, which is a typical product target (a little taste of the vision). The process of product iteration, there will be a number of business needs have emerged. And each business needs, behind will be implied with one or more goals, goals.
For example, “registration” is a business requirement, it is not user needs. No users are anxious to use a website also registered! “Registration” business purpose, the product is expected to register user information through the way to facilitate user management. For this business purpose, “improve the conversion rate of the registration page” is a clear business objective. Through the design, we can be business goals into user behavior, that is, so that more users to “click on the registration button” to help the product to achieve “to improve the registration page conversion rate” business objectives.
How to guide the user to register, this series of behavioral design, is a very critical step. Because, user behavior directly affects the achievement of business goals. So, before designing user behavior, we certainly need to know who the target is. To understand what characteristics they have, user experience, what will appear in the case of registration behavior, experience the goal is what. This is what we often say that the user needs analysis.

improve ui design

The sentence “finished the first project, the works set to complete half”, so the first main application project is the most time and effort to think and improve. The fourth sentence is “the project has a focus on the formation of the whole”, which means that because your portfolio is composed of a number of projects, do not need every project exhaustive, may be the first project is to express a design idea The process of the system will emphasize a certain aspect.

The second project may express itself through the manual physical space model to express their own  ui design concept The third will focus on computer technology, that is, each project you have in the design and picture expression have focused. The fourth can focus on the direction of the research, refining the keywords can be placed in the directory, each project has a major point, and finally to form a whole.

Show system status for better user experience

Jakob Nielsen describes in the first article of the Revelation of the user experience Principle: Let the user always know what is happening now.

Users want to get a response immediately, but there are always cases where the site takes a while to wait for the operation to complete.

Then, the interface should be displayed in the background graphics, reflecting the percentage of completion. Or play the sound, so that users understand what is happening.

001b

This principle is also related to the file transfer: Do not let users feel bored, give them a look at the progress bar. Even if it is not a pleasant notice, such as transmission failure, it should be in a pleasing way to show. Let your users smile!

The characteristics of human quick crawling information for user experience

It is a hotel fire door, this type of door in the fire when it can withstand the fire spread to the door area, so that in the event of a fire should be closed and not allowed to be opened. In order to remind people that “it is not an escape channel”, at the door once people have designed two different groups of logo, one is “NOT AN EXIT” (not export), there is a version of “FIRE DOOR KEEP CLOSED” (fire The door remains closed).

exitdoor

The survey shows that people seem to have misinterpreted “EXIT” in front of the logo, so it will be pushed, and the latter, although the word seems to be wordy, but it has a wake-up call on user experience. Why is this happening because the human optic nerve has a quick grasp of the key information system, only to spend a small amount of time to read the text, will be a photo-style way to browse the text of the key information, this ability is People and raw things, it is an instinct.

firedoor21

So “NOT AN EXIT” and “EXIT” almost no difference. This kind of human fast crawling information is widely used in marketing means, but many are used as the title party, so to remind a little time, when the title to attract others when the best there is some dry goods, otherwise There will be counter-effect.

user experience VS product value

When you are limited to the user experience is equivalent to  the UI usability, or a limited understanding of the user experience only occurs when the user in the process of using the product, you will say: there are more important things than it, such as User value, product value.

Yes, that’s right. If the product is useless, that is, no value to the user, UI usability is definitely not the most important and most urgent things.

394

But we still have to remind ourselves that availability is not equivalent to the user experience, and availability is only part of the user experience .

User experience design goes beyond product design. User experience design includes the organization to carry out user research, usability research, create character roles, design information architecture, design and use of the process, design low / high fidelity prototype and many other skills. Its essence is user-centered product design, system design and service design, it is not just concerned about the usability of the UI, but also concerned about the user before use, use, after the use of various stages, different channels of all feelings. User experience design includes both tangible products, system design, and invisible service design.

A product to the user has no use, that is, whether to meet the needs of users, determines whether the product has the user value. Solve the problem of user value, equal to solve the problem of product usefulness. So that products with usefulness, is the basis of user experience design. In addition, the user experience design also needs to solve the problem of product availability and attractiveness. In the business environment, a valuable product, in addition to help users solve the problem, but also need to be able to help businesses achieve business goals, that is, with user value and business value. The user experience designer conducts detailed research, analysis, and then combined with business objectives to design useful, usable, and attractive products for each point of contact with the product, system, or service, and ultimately to achieve a valuable product.

In this process, product managers and designers sometimes need to make a balance between the user and the business. After all, the pursuit of a better user experience also means the need for higher costs.

“user” in user experience

“User” means that the definition of “good user experience” is different for different target users. So if out of the user, is unable to evaluate the user experience of a product.

u18377530333541672826fm11gp0

May be a lot of friends that we should do the product as much as possible “simple”, it is best for users do not need to learn will be able to “natural” use. This principle may be right for most of the products for the public. But in other cases, it is not necessarily. For example: Mito Xiu Xiu and Photoshop can handle pictures, but their user experience which is good, which is not good? This thing I can not really simple conclusion.

Mito Xiu Xiu target users, may be some sister paper. They are a typical user scene, is the use of mobile phone self-timer, hoping to become more of their own “some”, and then sent to friends circle above. Most of the sister paper is estimated that did not learn the design or art, may not understand photography, but the United States show Xiu Xiu can let the sister paper only through a simple click, select, you can turn your photos into the United States. Do not need too much thinking, do not need professional knowledge, so in this scene, its “user experience” is good. But the target users of Photoshop, it is estimated that these are not the sister of paper, but a professional designer. For a professional designer, he works with Photoshop, then “to maximize the help of designers to express their ideas” is a good user experience. In order to do this, professional designers do not mind going to the depth of the study of the use of this software. From the “ease of use” point of view, Photoshop is clearly not easy to use, but for professional designers, it’s great user experience!

so,it’s very important for us to juge “user” in user experience.

Specifications for ux design

One my main aims is to always be able to communicate my decisions with the team and be able to reduce difficulty for our developers as much as I can in order to provide them with the best possible resources. That for me is definitely the most important part of my job as an designer.
images-3
Since we documented all the interaction and have everything ready from the beginning of our process, creating specs is a piece of cake. I tend to write specs in Google Docs or below the screens in Sketch files for better ux design. It’s nice to handle your designs with explanations of all features so anybody can grab your file in the future.

making Consistency in ui design

The best way to create visual patterns is through consistency in ui design. Patterns, in turn, create relationships a user can get used to having. It’s the same way users are used to certina icons being related to certain actions, i.e a trash can means delete. Colors are a lot more subjective because every website or app can make their own meaning for colors.u18377530333541672826fm11gp0

Let’s take the relationship with the color blue on Underbelly’s portfolio website. It’s a simple example and it’s perfect to make my point. Anything clickable on Underbelly’s website is blue. Having used the website for a few seconds, it becomes clear quickly that their links are blue. And that’s how you create patterns through color. Patterns are good because they allow users and visitors to easily recognize something. The easier recognition becomes, the less people think and by now we all know how happy that makes Steve Krug.

Using chunk for better user experience

The key to showing your visitors better content is presenting them said content in the way that they already naturally absorb it. That means chunking. Since your content is going to face an uphill battle on the web to be read anyway, not chunking your content virtually assures that very few people will read it.

images-4
This means fewer leads, conversions and customers, as someone not reading your sales copy to the end can mean a lost sale, or another visitor refusing to read your blog post thoroughly can mean lost signups and lead captures. In short, not chunking your content on the web leads to bad outcomes.

Chunking encourages people to read content on the web how they’re already naturally inclined to read it, which is by skimming and scanning. Don’t fight it! Don’t bunch your content together in longer paragraphs, expecting the quality of your content to persuade people to read word-for-word.

The truth of the matter is that people just don’t spend that much time reading content on the web. And your job as a designer is to take this short attention span and get them to read and retain as much of it as possible. You’ll do that only by chunking to increase user experience.
